According to the Ministry of Natural Resources' Ontario Wind Atlas, winds off of Lake Superior blow more incessantly than anywhere else in the province.

Britain abandoned coal big time after Maggie Thatcher privatized the energy industry system in the 1980s. With the energy industry forced to meet market tests, coal fields were shut down, coal-fired power plants were shut down, and coal-related emissions plummeted.
