Transportation

Energy Probe believes that the transportation sector holds the greatest potential for energy conservation because it operates the least on market principles. The automobile is especially subsidized in direct and indirect ways, most markedly via free roads and in government policies that promote suburban sprawl.

To enable public transit to compete fairly against the automobile and to promote the compact cities that would come of laissez-faire government, Energy Probe promotes an end to subsidies in transportation, privatization, deregulation, and competition in public transit, including taxis, and the abolition of zoning and other government land use planning regulations.
